GRacing Shifters has developed a superbly designed and engineered super short shifter for the NC Miata 6-speed transmission which overcomes the reverse lockout using a unique twist to unlock approach. No more pushing down on the shifter knob that uses several nylon parts and springs causing a sloppy feel and shifting.

Regarding shifter fitment, Is there a difference between the NC1, NC2 and NC3 transmissions? YES!
Here's something important to know: NC1, NC2 and NC3 use different bushings on the lower ball of the shifter. This is the only difference that matters when a shifter is being added or changed. Our NC shifter comes with a custom made delrin bushing to replace the oem nylon bushing from Mazda; therefore we need to know which transmission is in your Miata so the correct bushing can be added to your order.
If your transmission has been changed and you are unsure whether the replacement NC transmission is a NC1, NC2 or NC3 we can help you figure it out. All you need to do is remove your oem shifter and measure the diameter of the nylon bushing that snaps onto the lower ball of the shifter. It will be either 22mm or 24mm in diameter. If you do not know how to measure it text or call us and we'll talk you through it. It's easy!
