PRIOR WRITE-UP:
The feedback that has been received from Street Car owners of this shifter, and from street car owners who have purchased more expensive short shifters, incorporates the potential for a rattle in the shifter at certain rpm's. In a Race or Track Car, it is not a factor as everything is vibrating and loud. In Street Cars, it seems that a range of 10% or less of the cars develop a "rattle" at certain rpm's which from our experimentation is caused by a transmission's worn bearings, an out of balance/worn driveshaft or the drive-train itself. The same shifter has been placed in several cars and some cars rattle and some do not; there is not a consistent pattern. Again, about 10% or less. Everything possible has been done to eliminate the rattle potential within the design of the shifter. I believe that it is important to be honest and straightforward, Thank you - Keith
What about my dust boot?:
The oem/factory dust can be used by cutting off the plastic ring that surrounds the hole/opening for the shift arm. If needed, put something slippery (not water) on the shift knob so that the boot can be slid over the shift knob. Once the boot is in place, a zip-tie can be used to snug the boot around the shift arm - simple!
